Educator of the Year 2018

It was humbling to receive a very special award last night. At the annual Gala of the Concordia Center for the Family in Ann Arbor, MI, I was awarded their “Outstanding Family Life Educator of the Year 2018” award. I was surprised to receive it since I certainly was never trying to earn it. I’m simply thankful that the Lord is using Heather and me to bless marriages and families with HIS way to live. Indeed, Jesus, the perfect husband and lover, deserves all the credit. To Him alone be the glory!

Below is my background info that was shared as I received the award…

Rev. Dr. Todd A. Biermann has been Sr. Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc, MI since 2007.  Prior to that, he served congregations in Parma, OH and Brooklyn Park, MN. Having earned his BA from Concordia College, Seward, NE in 1986 and his MDiv from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1990, Biermann completed his DMin degree at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne in 2012. The focus of his doctoral work was marriage and family relationships as guided by God’s Word.  He and his wife, Heather, have been presenting Marriage in God’s Way seminars and retreats since 2006. They’ve shared God’s gifts for relationships more than 50 times in Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and from Alaska to Florida in the U.S. Next June they’ll be leading extensive training for marriage and family ministry in South Africa. Their children, Hannah (age 19) and Micah (age 17), have also accompanied them in teaching how God gives them guidance in their family relationships.  Biermann is also an online adjunct professor for Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor, teaching in the Master of Family Life Program. For his work in this position, he was recently elected as one of the Top 10 Adjunct Professors for 2017/18. On his blog site, LifeinGodsWay.com, Dr. Biermann regularly shares insights on how to live ALL of life’s relationships based on God’s guidance for marriage. This subject, especially as it impacts our Christian witness to the world, is also the focus of his award-winning book, Handing Out Life.
